Consuming Carbon Corporation ("we", "us", "Consuming Carbon") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

2. What we collect, and why
We collect personal data in only two ways:
2.1 Contact form
When you fill out our contact form, we collect your name, email address, organization (optional), your chosen topic, and the message you write. We use this data only to respond to your enquiry.
- Lawful basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Retention: kept in our mail inbox until the conversation is closed or for up to 24 months, whichever is shorter.
- Recipients: only the Consuming Carbon team. We do not share contact form submissions with third parties.
The form currently submits via your own email client (a mailto: link).
When we wire it to a backend provider, we will list that provider here.
2.2 Server logs
Our website hosting provider may automatically record standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page, timestamp). These are used only to keep the site running and secure, and to investigate abuse. Logs are typically retained for up to 30 days.
3. What we don't do
- We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any similar tracker.
- We do not set advertising or marketing cookies.
- We do not profile visitors or build advertising audiences.
- We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
4. Cookies & similar technologies
We use only what is strictly necessary to run the site:
- A single localStorage entry that remembers you've dismissed our privacy notice, so we don't keep showing it.
No analytics or marketing cookies are set. If we ever add any, we will update this policy and request your consent before activating them.
5. Third-party services
The website loads two assets from third-party providers:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — used to deliver the Manrope and JetBrains Mono typefaces. Loading a font causes your browser to send its IP address and basic request headers to Google.
- Pamoja DMRV (pamojadmrv.earth) — linked from this site as a separate service. If you visit it, its own privacy policy applies.
6. Your rights under GDPR / UK GDPR
If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erase — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict — limit how we use your data
- Object — object to specific uses of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

7. International data transfers
Consuming Carbon is incorporated in the United States and operates across Africa. If you contact us from the EU/UK, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We use providers that implement appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) where applicable.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data — encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls on our mail accounts, and minimal-data collection by design. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.
9. Children
This website is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, email info@consumingcarbon.com and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
