From Urban Liability to Biodiversity Asset.
Hygrow is an integrated waste management system transforming the environmental liability of landfill organic waste into verified ecosystem assets. By diverting organic streams from landfills for conversion into premium soil amendments and clean fuel, the project tackles the twin crises of methane emissions and soil degradation. The initiative overcomes significant capital and logistical barriers—traditionally obstacles to organic waste management—to deliver high-integrity, additional carbon credits that fund this critical infrastructure.

The project generates profound, verifiable biodiversity co-benefits through two key pathways. First, diverting waste drastically reduces contaminated leachate and methane production, directly protecting local aquifers and waterways from eutrophication. Second, the application of our compost-biochar blend restores Soil Organic Matter (SOM) on agricultural lands, revitalizing the soil microbiome and reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers. This creates a virtuous cycle: healthier arable land reduces the pressure to convert native habitats, fostering landscape-level resilience and biodiversity.
